The 2015 iPoker beta
In October 2015 the iPoker network released a completely rebuilt desktop client as a beta. Poker news sites told readers they could download the beta version and try it before their own room switched over. The beta is long finished and nothing can be downloaded here; this page describes what it was.
What was new
- A new visual design, built from scratch rather than reskinned.
- A redesigned lobby with large tiles in place of the older tabbed, spreadsheet-style lists; advanced filters were still available.
- Quick access to favourite games.
- Player statistics shown as soon as you sat down at a table.
- Completely redesigned tables (see the new table).
Where it appeared first
| Room | Status in October 2015 |
|---|---|
| bet365 | First room to run the new client, on a test basis |
| William Hill Poker | Launched with the new client |
| Coral Poker | Launched with the new client |
| Other iPoker rooms | Release announced as imminent; PokerStrategy's list of network rooms at the time included NetBet Poker, Winner Poker, Titan Poker, Betfair Poker, Everest Poker, Betfred Poker and Paddy Power Poker |
What happened next
By April 2016 the beta had become the standard client on nearly all of the network's rooms. Some players on the Two Plus Two forums still asked for the old software, and the legacy client stayed available at some rooms for a while. The full sequence is on the client timeline.
